You can listen to samples of music and also read an interview with Sixties English-born blues rocker Eric Burdon courtesy of Rolling Stone magazine at the following URL --

I have been a follower of Burdon for almost fifty years, ever since as a schoolboy in Liverpool...

Google Gmail Crash

Posted 02-24-2009 at 11:25 AM by Catherine Chandler
If anyone tried to send me a sonnet this morning between 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, you probably did not get through due to the Google gmail crash.

If so, please resend, as the problem has been fixed.

The Gladdest Thing

Posted 03-09-2009 at 07:48 AM by Catherine Chandler
In Edna St. Vincent Millay's "Afternoon on a Hill," she writes, "I will be the gladdest thing/Under the sun!/I will touch a hundred flowers/And not pick one." That's how I feel about reading and reading the sonnets submitted to me for this year's bake-off, very glad indeed.

Just a reminder that tomorrow (March 10) noon is the submission deadline. That's when "I will mark which must be mine" and then send twelve to Mr. Cassity for his comments.

Turner Cassity Tribute - Call for Submissions

Posted 08-08-2009 at 11:46 AM by Alex Pepple
Dear Eratosphereans,

Those of us who know Turner Cassity or his work were stunned stunned by his sudden departure a couple of weeks ago. We were privileged at Eratosphere to have him here as a member and host of our last Sonnet Bake-off.

The next issue of Able Muse will feature a tribute to Turner Cassity. Suzanne Doyle will be editing this special feature. In addition to Suzanne's prodigious virtues as a writer, she probably was as close a literary friend/confidante...

More Nominations and by the Pushcart Editorial Board

Posted 04-18-2016 at 04:33 PM by Alex Pepple
More good news--the Pushcart Editorial Board personally wrote recently to request the additional nominations by Able Muse of Please Touch, by Meredith McCann (which is also available online, as linked), and "At the Grave of William Thompson," by William Thompson, both published in Able Muse, Summer 2015 (Volume 19, June 2015). Congratulations to Bill and Meredith!

Cheers,
...Alex
