Milestone 99

This is just to say that I have reached a milestone, the 99th unique literary magazine to publish my work, This event occurred with a recent publication in the UK print magazine Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine. http://flashfictionmagazine.co.uk/

Also at e-Rattle:http://www.rattle.com/eissues/eIssue12.pdf a poem which will be in the print Rattle too.

A microfiction recently at Dead Mule School of Southern Literature and two poems are forthcoming at Innisfree. The editors of both have published my work before so aren't in the countdown.

Also a story in the unnamed 98th magazine, print and online.

Here's hoping my 100th unique magazine will embrace me by midsummer.

Lance Levens 04-26-2012 03:21 PM

Terrific milestone, Janice. We're so fortunate to have you.

Catherine Chandler 04-26-2012 03:31 PM

That's amazing, Janice! Major congratulations! :)

Mike Lane 04-26-2012 03:34 PM

Dang Janice, big numbers I'll never reach!

Congratulations!

Mike

Jayne Osborn 04-26-2012 03:41 PM

Jan, that's phenomenal! Congratulations.

When you reach the biggie 100 I'll open a bottle of champagne in your honour. (It would be even better to share it with you! :))

Jayne

W.F. Lantry 04-26-2012 03:49 PM

Way to go Janice. Don't slow down now.

Maryann Corbett 04-26-2012 03:51 PM

Love those big-number counts! Enjoy every one. Excelsior.

Ed Shacklee 04-26-2012 06:07 PM

It's just another, very polite way of saying that all the other magazines have bad taste or are clueless bumpkins, in my book! Congrats, Janice. Richly deserved.

Ed

Charlotte Innes 04-26-2012 06:20 PM

Many congrats, Janice!

Before you get to Jayne's champagne year, you can play Prince's "'99" (well, it's really 1999, but it's the closest song I could think of) and "party like it's" '99. Below is the link (with lyrics).

Let us know when you hit 100...

Charlotte

I won't out him or her. . . yet :) . . . but, incredible as it sounds, there's another Spherian who has reached that august milestone recently. It's like having Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron on your team!

Ed

Jean L. Kreiling 04-26-2012 07:16 PM

Yea, Janice! Your number reflects not only talent, but also hard work, which I admire just as much. I think I may go count mine now, but I'm not going to report the number, because it ain't gonna come close!

Kudos, Janice D.--
Jean L.

Janice D. Soderling 04-27-2012 08:57 AM

Thanks, friends. It would not have happened without Eratosphere. So Lance, it is I who am lucky to have you and all the other members. But thanks for the compliment!

Cathy, when I learn to write sonnets like you (I wish!) that will be a milestone.

Mike you will reach it. Hey, man, you have a book.

Jayne, on my next trip we can open that Champis anyway.

Bill, it made me quite dizzy! Dizzier. You have likely reached that milestone faster than I. If I had got that Kate-clone it would have gone faster.

John, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ar-qBj3JN4 HA!

Maryann. Not to forget: Excelsior: the Shades of Night by A E Housman

The shades of night were falling fast
And the rain was falling faster,
When through an Alpine village passed
An Alpine village pastor;
A youth who bore mid snow and ice
A bird that wouldn't chirrup,
And a banner, with the strange device —
'Mrs. Winslow's soothing syrup.

Beware the pass,' the old man said,
'My bold and desperate fellah;
Dark lowers the tempest overhead,
And you'll want your umberella;
And the roaring torrent is deep and wide —
You may hear how it washes.'
But still that clarion voice replied:
'I've got my old goloshes.'

'Oh stay,' the maiden said, 'and rest
(For the wind blows from the nor'ward)
Thy weary head upon my breast —
And please don't think me forward.'
A tear stood in his bright blue eye
And gladly he would have tarried;
But still he answered with a sigh:
'Unhappily I'm married.'

Ed. Cally's agent and my fellow Hoosier! Thanks for all encouragement. Also, it is not hard to guess who Mr. Who is.

Charlotte. I should live so long.;)

Jean. Keep track of those statistics. You never know when you might need them to apply for a fellowship, or residency. KEEP COUNT.

Thanks all.

David Rosenthal 04-27-2012 08:00 PM

Wow Janice, that very cool. Congratulations.

David R.

Tracey Gratch 04-29-2012 08:10 AM

Congratulations, and thanks for sharing the news, Janice. It's quite an accomplishment.

I'm sure 100 is just around the corner. Awesome.

Tracey

Kimberly Poitevin 04-30-2012 10:16 AM

Congratulations, Janice!

Janice D. Soderling 04-30-2012 10:20 AM

Thanks, David, Tracey, and Kim. I'll just latch on immediately to say that you have all contributed to improving my outlook on poetry. I learn every day.

We can let this slide now. Many thx.

Alex Pepple 05-31-2012 10:06 AM

Somehow, I missed this BIG milestone, Janice ... congratulations!

...Alex

Janice D. Soderling 05-31-2012 10:32 AM

:) Thank you, Alex.

It is 103 unique publications now but I'll stay mum about it until i get to 130. Able Muse helped me over the hump, so thank you very much.

Tracey Gratch 05-31-2012 10:45 AM

I'll quietly say "yay" for 103

Rick Mullin 05-31-2012 11:57 AM

Kommienezuspadt!

Bill Carpenter 05-31-2012 12:19 PM

Congratulations! As the caissons go rolling along!

Tim Murphy 05-31-2012 02:30 PM

That is amazing, Janet. I don't keep track, but it's nowhere near 99!

Pedro Poitevin 05-31-2012 02:38 PM

Yay, Janice!

Pedro.

Jayne Osborn 05-31-2012 03:06 PM

Come on, Janice, hurry up with Milestone no. 100 :)

I'll nip over to Sweden and we can share a bottle of bubbly. Here's a poem in kit form:

Quatrain:
Plane,
Champagne,
Jayne.

Rob Wright 05-31-2012 03:08 PM

Janice,

How did I miss this! Congratulations. This is so well earned— and deserved. No one can say it wasn't. I wonder what the unnamed publication could be? Sorry. It's just my usual firm grasp of the obvious.

Rob

Janice D. Soderling 05-31-2012 04:09 PM

I was going to say earlier that we could let this sink to the bottom of the sea again, but then I thought it would without me bumping it up again. It didn't so I'll just say:

Thank you everyone who has kindly commented.

thanks talented tracey for your sotto voce, made me smile, and multibook Rick for the loud kazoom! Thanks Bill and Tim, this fades to nothing beside your publications and education. Pedro, I prophecy a much greater number for you in the future, thank you. Rob, Able Muse was the unnamed publication, I didn't want to mention it before it was released, and you had both a poem and story there (hope everyone has read them).

Jayne, we've missed our chance to toast to the 100th, but we can make up a new reason, what the heck, that poem alone is enough to cork up a bottle of bubbly. Mi casa es su casa.

I won't deny that I am touched, really moved, by the good wishes in this thread. I would never have had this milestone without Eratospherians. Now I'm pulling the cork in the floor of this boat, and letting her sink. Thanks again, virtual friends.
