Two super poems by OUR Catherine Tufariello (I don't think she's officially a member, but I'll claim her as an honorary one anyway) on Poetry Daily today (Monday 11th). After today, the poems will be in their archives for one year.

Catherine is a superb poet and friend (my coconspirator on the Petrarch project). I saw one of these outstanding poems in draft, and it is great to see it in Poetry! Forty years from now people will think Stallings and Tufariello the way they now think Wilbur and Hecht.

Just wonderful poems. A great way to start the day. Thanks for pointing them out.

These are splendid! Thanks for pointing them out, Alicia!

Sam Gwynn posted a link to the Catherine Tufariello poems on another list-serve I belong to. The poems are excellent and spiced up my dull Monday. Lovely work, Catherine.

A friend tipped me off that there were some comments on my poems here. After my daughter Sophia (who, at eight months, is extremely substantial and not at all wraith-like) had gone to bed last night, of course I had to read them. Alicia, Mike, Paul, Michael and Anthony, thank you so much for your good words. You made my week!

Catherine, welcome to Erato!

I'd like to add my kudos for these poems I had the privilege to see in manuscript. I get lots of letters from the scholarship kids at West Chester. But Catherine's letter included some dropdead gorgeous poems! When she returned the following year she met and befriended R.S. Gwynn and Dick Davis. And now she's simply one of the best poets writing in English. Catherine, you're a welcome addition to the ranks of Erato's Sphere. I'll soon be badgering you to join me as guest Lariat. Tim

Ha! You see! A member after all!

Actually, Catherine, I must confess I took the liberty of posting your poem "Free Time" on the Het Met thread over at Musings on Mastery a month or so back, where it was much admired. (I should have asked, though...)

Wow, those are great! The fruit one especially. And she got away with 4 w's in a row in the last line of the other, LOL! That ain't easy to do.
