The new book "The Poetry Anthology, 1912-2002," presenting the editor's choice of the best verse published in "Poetry" over a ninety year span, includes wonderful poems by A.E. Stalling and Rhina Espaillat. (The may be other 'spherians in there, too, but I've only browsed it so far.)
Congratulations!
Richard

Wow, the good news just never stops around here! Rhina and Alicia, it's always a big smile when you two are recognized for all you deserve.

Richard, will the book be available in bookstores? Do you know? Thanks for the news.

Terese

Yes, it will certainly be available in book stores, and it will probably be very well distributed. Official publication date was late October, so it's probably everywhere by now. I haven't checked Amazon. Here are the particulars:
"The POETRY Anthology, 1912-2002," edited by Joseph Parisi and Stephen Young, published by Ivan R. Dee, $29.95.

Now that's a big deal! Congrats to two of our sonnet bake-off winners. Just read a long, lyrical essay by Lariat Mason which considers at some length, and very appreciatively, Bob Mezey's new Poems of the American West. Erato rules!

I was fortunate enough to have a poem selected for this anthology as well, but I haven't received my copy yet and didn't know who else was in it. Congratulations, Rhina and Alicia!

Catherine:
My sincere apologies for leaving you out. It's a big book, and I have yet to explore it fully.
My congratulations are no less sincere for being late!
Richard

Catherine, that's excellent news. I'll be looking for the book and your name too—congratulations! You must be glowing!

Thank you, Richard. And please, no apology is necessary! I know the book is over 500 pages long. I'm grateful to you for posting about it, and very pleased that Rhina and Alicia, whose poems I admire so much, are featured.

Terese, thank you too. Yes, I was very surprised and excited to get the news. I'll be hounding the postman until my copy comes.

Rhina P. Espaillat 11-05-2002 06:05 PM

Thanks for the congratulations, 'Sphereans! And how lovely to be in such good company as yours, Alicia and Catherine: I'm waiting for the mailman too, to see who else is in there with us.
