WELCOME TO THE FIRST ISSUE OF NUMBAT
Beneath our rough surface some fine poems are lurking

http://www.aceonline.com.au/~db/numbat/

Born from the ashes of our old Poetry DownUnder, Numbat is an Australian-based poetry journal that publishes poets from all over the English-speaking world. Our Australianness resides in that, being an all-Australian editorial panel, we are likely to have an Australian point of view when making our selections. In each issue one of the two featured poets will be Australian and the other will be from elsewhere.

This issue proudly features a Western Australian poet, Mal McKimmie and an American poet from Kentucky, Charles Semones.

We publish fine work by distinguished and popular poets from around the world:
Gary Keenan; Charles Levenstein; Jan Teagle Kapetas; Mike Williams; Helen Hagemann; Jayne Fenton Keane; Larry Jaffe; Jerry H. Jenkins; Ellaraine Lockie; Doug Poole; Rob Walker; Averil Bones; J. B. Mulligan; Claire Brown Bower; Harvey Stanbrough; Wendy Videlock; Wendy Babiak

The name “Numbat” is taken from the little marsupial anteater that is the state animal symbol of Western Australia.
