Captain Ill and Martial Stalk
I wrote a poem which began
My father's ghost was wont to walk With Captain Ill and Martial Stalk and went on for another ten lines or so. Can anyone remember it. I retrieved it earlier today but then lost it. |
John,
You frequently start threads of this nature. You can't rely on others to operate a filing system for you. Sorry to sound harsh, but the solution to your problem is entirely in your own hands. Do you know how to do a ''Search'' of your Word documents? You can't have many files that contain the words Martial Stalk. Jayne |
John, I did a thorough search and was unable to find it. Frustrating indeed, because I want to know more about the ghost in question.
|
I wrote one which began:
Let us go then, me and you when the evening is laid out against the sky or something like that, and goes on for many lines, and, like John, I can't find it. Would you all mind checking your files to see if I sent it to you by mistake? If you find it, and I get it published, there will be a modest reward. |

A+ post right there. |
Frequently is a bit harsh, Jayne. But why shouldn't I? And it appears Aaron Novick has found it though I can't open what he sent. However, I will do what you said, if I haven't done it already.:)
JAaron Novick, what do I do to activate what you sent? Aaron Poochigan. Yes, I too am intrigued. |
Whoa, John, you are an early riser--you posted at 5:53am UK time. Don't forget to feed the cats.
|
Who do you suppose woke me up, Aaron?
Jayne, no I don't know hw to do a search of my Word Documents. Explain in words of one syllable, you clever old thing? |

John, I'm assuming a PC and not a Mac. Open a Windows Explorer window (i.e. the window that files appear in). Go to your My Documents folder, if that's where you store your poems. If not go to whatever folder you store your files in. If you're not sure where they are, go to the "My Computer" folder, which will search pretty much everything on your computer. Look at the folder window for a small text box (something you can type into) that says "search". It will be most likely be in the top right-hand corner. Type whatever phrase you want to search for. Then hit the return key. The file or file(s) containing that phrase will appear in a list. Good luck. Matt |
