I just came back from my mailbox, which contained a cash grant from Giorno Poetry Systems! This is my second grant from John Giorno's foundation; the first was in 2000. I'm grateful and happy for the acknowledgement and support.

Way to go, Terese! I've never gotten a grant. (Never applied for one either, but that's another story.) Erato Rules.

Thanks, Tim. I'm not sure how Mr. Giorno and company award them; there was no real application process, and it's kind of a mystery to me. I don't know him personally, though he may have heard me read somewhere (entirely possible, since he's been on the poetry scene since the 60s and probably earlier). I did send him a few poems on several occasions. I remember when his poems were in the Museum of Modern Art, on tape, which seems like a zillion years ago (around 1970 probably) and at the time constituted the most publicized of the poetry avante-garde. I was once at a party at his loft, some years after that, but never actually met him as he was surrounded by the boho glitterati. Anyway I was pathetically shy at the time.

Dear Mike
I'll try to be worthy of your non-jealousy! Thanks for the Carrollian cheers! Terese |
Wow Terese, terrific for you. Real money. You can buy poetry books with it or just spread it out on the bed and roll around on it and say, I am a poet!
Congrats! Tom |
