The 2003 Willis Barnstone Prize for
Poetry Translation (sponsored by the Evansville Review, and with Barnstone judging) has been awarded to co-winners Marilyn Hacker and Ralph Angel. Yours truly was one of the five finalists, so I'm going to pretend that was a Third Place. Onward and upward with the arts. |
Congratulations Len! I dare say, many of us would die to be one of the finalists for the Willis Barnstone Prize for Poetry Translation. I'd be interested in knowing which poem it is.
All the best, Don |
Don, it was a translation
of Verlaine's sonnet "Effet de Nuit," with the second edition (pre-1894) version of line 12. Thanks for the kind words. |
Congrats! Willis Barnstone is a cool dude. His book, "501 Sonnets" knocks me out.
