2015 Hyla Brook Reading Series

The Hyla Brook Reading Series at the Robert Frost Farm in Derry, NH kicks off Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 6:30pm with featured reader Jacquelyn Pope. The HBRS reader is Kyle Potvin.

Jacquelyn Pope's first collection of poems, Watermark, was selected by Marie Ponsot for the inaugural Marsh Hawk Poetry Prize and was published by Marsh Hawk Press in 2005. Her poems have appeared in journals including Poetry, The New Republic, Gulf Coast, FIELD, and Southern Review and have been featured on the Poetry Daily website. Her work has received the Jos Marti Prize and awards from the Academy of American Poets and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Her translations of the work of Dutch and Afrikaans poets have been published in journals in the US and abroad; Hungerpots, her translation of the selected poems of Dutch poet Hester Knibbe, is forthcoming in October 2015. She is the recipient of a 2015 NEA Translation Fellowship and a 2012 PEN/Heim Translation Fund grant.

Joining Pope for this first reading is Hyla Brook Poet Kyle Potvin. Potvin's poetry has appeared in The New York Times, Measure, The Huffington Post, JAMA, Blue Unicorn, Alimentum, and on BBC's World Update, among others. She was named a finalist for the 2008 Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award. Her first collection of poetry, Sound Travels on Water (Finishing Line Press), was co-winner of the New England Poetry Clubs 2014 Jean Pedrick Chapbook Award

The experience of sitting in Frost's barn and hearing poets read is a delight...and free! Here's the whole schedule. Upcoming are the June reading featuring the Frost Farm Prize winner (soon to be announced) who will be invited to be our featured reader along with judge Joshua Mehigan. The balance of readings feature Angela Alaimo O’Donnell, Maggie Dietz and Bill Coyle.
