I read the poem again, and I can't help asking:

Have you been reading the astoundingly good Marianne Moore? If not, you may be channeling her. Yeah, I know that's woo-ville, but hey, you never know. The only Moore-ian aspect missing in your poem is the ubiquitous quoting " " from other sources, which she did too much, if I can say that without pissing off her ghost.
