"Another Stupid Moon Poem" was just accepted to the hardcopy zine Limestone Circle; but enormously more exciting was the acceptance (the day before) of "How to Divide the Cat" by the hardcopy zine California Quarterly -- the official publication of the California State Poetry Society.

I had sent the cat poem to Spillway, Poetic Voices, Chelsea, and others -- to no avail. I had entered it in numerous contests, including the L.A. Poetry Awards, The San Diego Writers Cooperative 2nd Annual Contest, and the Mudfish contest, which it came within a hairsbreadth of winning according to a note slipped into my "winners" SASE. I kept sending it out: at last count FOURTEEN times.

The poor cat was beginning to look as dessicated as a mummy. Then, the CSPS acceptance!

So....................if you have a poem that you know is one of the best items you've ever writen, and you've spindled a few rejection slips in its name, don't give up. Keep burning those postage stamps, and licking the midnight oil.
