THE MARCH INTERBOARD POETRY COMPETITiON WINNERS AND OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

The winners, a new board added, a new judge for May-August and publication at Writer’s Hood proceeding.

I. The winners. The poems will follow all announcements.

The poems will initially be posted at IBPC.

First place: When Does the First Train Leave for Atlanta, Gary Blankenship, Wild Poetry.

An ambitious and impressive narrative with a compelling mixture
of everyday speech and mundane details. Something of a collage, this
poem contains unexpected music, magic and lyricism. Certainly more than
the sum of its parts.

Second place: Letter for A. R. Ammons, Gary Kennan, poets.org

Successful (and timely) tribute to A.R. Ammons.
Striking detail and unusual visual and musical effects.

Third place: Chemo-Therapy, Wendy Gravet, BlueLine

Moving, direct, painful--but also transcends the pain it speaks
of.

Honorable Mentions:

In Praise of My Old Woman, Joseph Carcel, Salty Dreams
An Angel Poem: Bad Boy on Sabbath, Michael Virga, Atlantic Unbound
Ode to Jack Kerouac, Nichole D. Myers, Mi Poesias
The Thing about Colors, Ani Gjika, Atlantic Unbound
True Red or “I Used To Be Snow White, but I Drifted,” Noelle Boyle, Callahan’s Saloon
Heritage, Cristina Farinas, Gandy Creek
Chicago Bob, Phil Stinson, Rabbit Hole

II. The new board is Pennine Works out of Great Britain.
