Thank you all so much for your pats on the back!
I think I hear Janice applauding and stamping, and Callie cheering!
Ann, great advice, as I well know. Actually, would you believe, I wrote the whole thing in longhand. I usually went to the library to work on it, and there was everybody tap tap tapping on their laptops, and I've got my notebooks, and I feel like a monk out of the Dark Ages. The thing is, I have upper body and arm pain which makes it hard to use a computer. Now I'll have to type it up though, which I'll do mainly with voice recognition. Which works pretty well, but it's kind of frustrating, because you have to speak in all the punctuation, and it's so tempting to just start using your hands. Not only that, you have to speak out loud, which can be embarrassing sometimes, especially during the sexy parts…
Seree, I'm looking at my stack of notebooks, and all I'm thinking is Wow!
Thanks David. It does feel like an epic journey.
Siham, I am enjoying the moment. The day I finished we went out for dinner, and afterwards I had a huge ice cream!
Bob, when people ask me what it's about, I always say "everything". Well, maybe not everything, but if you mention something, chances are it's in there. When I fantasize the blurbs on the dust jacket, I think something like: "Stephen King meets Daphne du Maurier meets Herman Melville..." Get the idea?
Well, John, it's pretty long… But it isn't heavy.
Simon, maybe I can fit it in sometime in the year 2045.
Charlotte, I know what you mean… But stamina wasn't really a big problem, because the whole thing kind of took over me and wouldn't let go, so I felt like I really didn't have any choice.
Lance, what's next? I have so many projects I've put to the side because of this, so many poems rattling around in my head, so many ideas for stuff I want to do… Not to mention umpteen million drafts of the novel… But I think I'm going to sit around watching TV and movies for a couple of days.
John, well, I don't even want to think about how many years I've been working on this. So don't give up. Just think how good it will feel when you write those two magical words "The End"!
