I had thought these issues were gone forever ... suspended out there in cyberspace ...

Thank you, Peter.

By the way, I noticed this too:

Actually, if you go from these links, they work!

They work when you click on the link, but if you try to copy the URL onto a blog, they don't work.

I was not aware until now of the later posts on this thread. I did at some point discover the problem with links on the Chimaera site. That problem was introduced by someone at the hosting company who changed a crucial setting.

Without going into technicalities... it had to do with the "aliasing" of the-chimaera.com (the usual British & Australian spelling) and the-chimera.com, the more usual American one, so that the site would work whichever way a user typed it in the browser. The wrong setting was not something I had access to change, and it took quite a while to get someone at the hosting company to do it! Water under the bridge: that was last year.

Quick update in case anyone has noticed that shitcreekreview.com is down.

The domain name has expired and may or may not be renewed: it's non-essential in preserving access to the 15 issues of the journal. You can't get to them via that domain, but you can by going to http://shitcreek.auszine.com and using the links there. In the case of Issues 1-6 (files stored at the non-functioning shitcreekreview.com) the links now point to an online archive.

Indeed. How often thoughts of him are triggered by a chance word or reference in ordinary reading. Just last night, dipping into Tacitus, the words "The Julio-Claudian Family Tree" caught my eye and I thought "Paul would know".

Am I wrong to think that his legacy is richer than most?

Hullo folks, long time, and all that. (Busy, busy, sorry).

Someone alerted me that the Stevens journals have started to die off in their original locations. That reminded me to report here that I changed the address of the mirrors of those sites I created. They've been here for a while:

http://mirror.ogbuji.net/www.the-flea.com/
http://mirror.ogbuji.net/shitcreek.a...com/index.html
http://mirror.ogbuji.net/www.the-chimaera.com/

I think Peter mentioned some anomalies in my mirrors, due to tricksies played by the original hosts which were missed by my brute-force mirroring script. If anyone can remind me what problems they are, or happens to run into any weirdness while surfing my mirrors, let me know soonest so I can fix them by comparison with the originals. I'm committed to doing what I can to curate the good man's work.
