Taking a little break to let you discuss
Hey, all!
Since folks haven't found time to comment on most of the Bake-Off finalists I've already posted, I'll pause and let you catch up before I post the other six main event finalists. This will delay the posting by an extra day, so it will take four days instead of three to post all twelve.
Translations of Meleager's first mosquito poem may be posted to that thread until noon my time (Pacific Daylight Time) on Friday, 3 October 2014. The popular favorite of those entries, to be voted on when we're done discussing the main event entries, will be awarded a book from the Able Muse Press catalog. (Ditto for the Meleager's bee translations, but entries for that are now closed.) We'll vote on both of those at the same time we vote on the top three winners of the main event.
Cheers,
Julie

And a well-earned rest, I hope, for a DG whose substantial contributions to each posted selection have amazed me so far. Thank you, Julie, for the work you're putting into this. I know it's customary to wait until the end of a bakeoff before handing out plaudits, but the phrase "above and beyond the call of duty" came into my mind and won't go away unless I write it down. Admiration - and, again, thanks.

My thanks too, with special emphasis on the "above and beyond" part.

Hear hear! I don't usually participate much in the translation boards since I'm a dunce in all foreign languages, but the work you've put into this makes it seem graspable.

Yes Julie, your comments are fantastic--you have put in a tremendous amount of work. How about something easier next, and taking over as Moderator of the translation forum? (Only partly )
Thank you so much!

Wouldn't it be brill if Julie was Transl'n Mod? Absolutely! We don't even need close attention. We NEVER bicker with each other!
Actually, I was hoping to see some 'odd' languages in this fest: no Urdu? Heiroglyphics? hmmm. An opportunity awaits ....

I am really impressed by the work Julie has put into this. I think she deserves a huge applause. And there is a tradition that even those without the languages in question are welcome to voice opinions of all kinds--pro, con, questioning, whatever.
