Send My Roots Rain
My last poetry collection was a songbook, called The Second Spring, and after its publication, a studio down in Nashville recorded seven of the lyrics they felt congenial—and the collection is just out this week on iTunes.
It's roots/folk stuff mostly, but I'm very happy with the singer and the production. You can watch two "official music videos" on the label's YouTube channel: The Windfall and The Rain and Wind, with some more videos scheduled to appear each of the coming Mondays.
Do get the album on iTunes, if you can, or at least "like" the videos and subscribe to the YouTube channel. There are some nice blurbs in the descriptions for the songs on YouTube, but no real mechanism for published reviews of this kind of thing—so pass the word along, if you get the chance.

Hi Joseph,
I enjoyed both. The Windfall was my favourite. It has a lovely traditional feel. The lyrics remind a fair bit of English folk, especially with the nature/season references, and tune definitely has that feel. The singer has a great voice too.
Best,
Matt

Congrats, Jodie.
I very much enjoyed Windfall. I was looking for Windfall/Windhover, but think they are quite different.
Best,
David

I also like 'windfall' best, although as poetry I liked 'rain and wind' I was a bit upset with the way they handled it, the (I've forgotten what you call it when voices over-lap) anyway it's an acapella technique and I thought it didn't work that well. Still it's great your work has been taken up by musicians. I also liked the visuals very much, especially the robins (or was it sparrows) in the snow. You may be interested in two of Neruda's poems that have received the same treatment, they are done by Four Seasons production company, they are 'Poema 20' and 'Inclinado en Las Tardes' both I think great ways to take poetry into another dimension ( both have subtitles).. on YouTube, isn't everything?
cheers
Ross

Joseph,
I liked both lyrics (and songs) very much, but 'The Rain and Wind' the most. The image that you and the singer painted of the children struck my heart.
Warm congratulations,
Ed

Thanks for the kind words. The project was a lot of fun, and if the iTunes sales are good enough (together with the YouTube ad revenue), the infrastructure is now in place to do more of my songs—and the songs of others, too.

The lyrics to The Windfall are ethereal, and the visuals and music timeless. Spectaular photos, especially the shots of frosted trees, and that apple finale is beyond belief! Congratulations, Jody!
