* Two calls for submissions for poem anthologies about the Mediterranean migrant crisis have come across my radar screen in the past few months. I didn't forward submission details here because when I asked the organizers your questions--how much of the proceeds will go to help migrants, and to which organizations will those funds be directed--both organizers said that their anthologies were not intended as fundraisers: "It's simply intended to raise awareness of the situation." Hmmm. Sounds like exploiting someone else's tragedy as a Poem Opportunity, and an excuse to gain visibility for one's own work. No thanks.
