This and That
I was astonished to open my mail this morning and find the new Quadrant. Les Murray has published Hard North, twelve identical pentameter octaves, the only poem I read this year at West Chester, my longest unitary poem. He didn't tell me he'd accepted it.
I sent a new eight line praise poem for King David to Commonweal two weeks ago, Another Advent, and it too was in the mail this morning.
Alerted by Cathy Chandler that the Thomas Hardy Journal was calling for poems, I sent them Mount Hardy, my little twelve line act of obeisance. I wrote it in September, when with my tenth collection I passed the forbidding 885 pages of Mount Hardy. Alan published one of his best poems there, and I am honored to join him. Have a blessed Advent. Tim
PS. I finished my eleventh collection, Grave Grandeur, December 1, bringing me to three this year, 270 pages. Can't hunt or drive now, but I am having fun and reading Chucky lots of hunting poems.

Congratulations on the Quadrant publication and the other great news. Are you sure Les didn't advise you of the publication? He usually only sends a postcard (I have two) and they're easily lost in the mail. Nevertheless, what a nice surprise!

Six poems rejected yesterday by Chronicles, but eight accepted today by Alabama Literary Review and The Hudson Review. Thank you Bill and Paula. Devotions comes out in February, and I will post the links to the Prairie Public TV and radio shows when they go on line. I still read very well for such an antique.
