Just wanted to let everyone know that
Quincy Lehr will be reading (performing?!) his poetry as part of a longstanding Los Angeles series called
"Rant & Rave" this coming
Monday, Oct. 20 at
8 p.m.
So if you're around, do come! (The theater is on Pico Blvd. just west of La Brea.)
Also, just released today, is the
Podcast of
my reading there from earlier this year.
"Rant & Rave" is an event put by Rogue Machine Theatre, which is one of the best small theater companies in LA. It's on the third Monday of most months throughout the year. Usually, the readers are actors, reading their own prose, so it's a bit nerve racking to be the only poet! But the audiences are very appreciative--and the house is always packed.
Each event is themed, Quincy's will be on "Apologies." Mine was on "Prostitution." That was a tough one! I read three poems within the framework of some prose. I should add that two of the poems were workshopped here--and benefited greatly from that. So thank you Sphereans! The third poem is a recent one.
And if you listen to my podcast, which is downloadable from the site, be kind! I am not an actress, but you
can hear every word. I'm largely mentioning this to give the theater a boost. The guy introducing me is Ron Bottitta, a great actor. And the Podcasts are put together by Andy Goodman.
I'm really looking forward to Quincy's event on Monday, and you can find information about that at:
