Default The Blind Loon: A Bestiary

I'm happy to say that The Blind Loon is available now at Able Muse Press, or for preorder at Amazon.com: the official publication date is July 24, 2017. Please buy several copies apiece and help make Alex, who's been wonderful throughout the making of the Loon and has the patience of Job, extremely rich.

Best,

Ed

"Filled with beasts both real and fantastical, The Blind Loon: A Bestiary features darkly light verse by Ed Shacklee and over 50 illustrations by Russ Spitkovsky. Published by Able Muse Press."

Congratulations, Ed. May your herd of beasts stampede from the printing press.

Here's the link to order from Able Muse. Which I have. A well-deserved congrats!

I didn't realize you lived on a boat in the Potomac, Ed. There's gotta be a poem or two there. And a boat on the Seine if the book is successful (very, very successful, I guess.)

Thanks Richard, Michael, Maryann, Martin, and Walter! And a special thanks to all of you who've placed an order. Alex put so much time and care into the project, I can only hope this endeavor will repay him in some small way.

Michael, I moved on to the boat the weekend before Halloween, and have been there ever since. I got the notion a short while before then and just did it: I have no idea what I'm doing, but the Lord looks after fools they say. It's not very big and needs work, but it suits me. I named her the Kingfisher after one of Cally's poems. Please come by sometime if you're in town.

Best,

Ed

P.S. Cally's poem.

Three and a hundred cheers, Ed! The book we've all been waiting for and I can hardly wait. I'm sure it will be well worth it.

Gigantic congrats,
Siham

Ed,

I ordered my copy from Able Muse Press and can’t wait for it to arrive. I hope the book meets with great success.

By the way, I remember that Cally wrote one poem actually entitled “Houseboat,” but of course a houseboat called “Houseboat” wouldn’t sound nearly so good as “The Kingfisher” (also the name of a terrific poetry collection by Amy Clampitt).

Wishing you and your riverine residence the best,

Mark
