Congrats to ALL, all around! Mike tends to be especially modest about these kinds of things, but I can tell you that he has just had accepted for pub. in 2002 a fine-arts chapbook of his Petrarch translations. The "Formalist" has JUST come out,
and the June issue should prominently (joke) display one of my deathless [ ] sonnets.

2000 was a good year for me, besides the Wilbur. Obnoxiously, I note the Robert Frost Prize for 2000, a New England Poetry Club First, The Grand Prize of the Scottish International Poetry Society, The "Iambs and Trochees" First Prize, and the Los Angeles Poetry Festival Baby Grand--among, oh, no doubt countless others.

There--got that rebarbative little bit of poison out of my system.

Sorry. But it is admittedly a kick to see one's name among
the many fine poets and critics of this board. Perhaps
Alex Pepple deserves some sort of medal?????

Len, that's terrific news! I've just finished your 'Midland' chapbook, and I check the bookstores periodically for 'Even As We Speak,' with no success thus far. Michael -- loved "The Temporary!" It brought back poignant memories of filling the dishwasher at a Savings and Loan office with liquid hand-washing detergent...I'll not explicate. Those few cruel inches, indeed

Richard, I appreciate Pivot's practice of clustering poems by one author. It was great to see so many of yours together in one spot. Also good to hear you've got forthcoming material in Troubadour. It will be our second year together in that journal.

I agree that Alex should be knighted -- I've found it such an encouragement to read all these credits, and I've ONE more to add, before I withdraw: namely, an acceptance by 'The Louisiana Review,' which seems no less than miraculous, to me. It's my 'cross-over' into the university publications, with form, of all things -- which is by way of urging any flagging confidences out there not to give up.

Jennifer

Jennifer (and all):

Thanks !

Congrats!

What kind of medal should Alex get?
(we are open for nominations as to style, size, etc.)

Re "Even as We Speak," I cringe (slightly)
to admit that the proofs are still sitting
with U of Evansville Press as we wait to
go to the printers. Original date was estimated
at Dec. 1, then Jan. 1, then Feb. 15.

By now, looks like it could easily be March 15!
(yikes!)

Never too soon to start thinking about those
Christmas presents for next year, foks (and
at only $15, a boggin !)

Been a while, guys.

Two more poems in Rattapallax and one in Commonweal.

Anyone posting out there any more,
or what?

Cheers

Good show, old boy!

Barring some act of God, I should have six poems in the June issue of PIVOT.

Cheers

Jennifer: Way to go, fella!

Now, does this mean you WILL keep trying those first-book
places?

Congrats,

Len

Although I seem to have put the dagger
of death through this board, here's one
last bit of ego-tripping:

forthcoming work in Rattapallax, Edge City R.,
Dark Horse, and Commonweal.

Cheers to all
and to all a fond good-night.

This morning, I was thrilled to hear from Arthur Mortensen that four of my poems on Rodia and the towers("Spires," "Ode," "Valentines," and "Sam Recycles")will appear in the June issue of Pivot. Thanks to all who pushed and pushed and pushed me to keep improving them.

Update: he also likes "Watts Mosaic," which he will definitely print, so there may be five!
