Tanka Workshop: October 8-
Our Tanka Workshop, hosted by David Anthony and with distinguished guest Amelia Fielden, is scheduled to start October 8 on the Distinguished Guest board. This is a bit of advance notice. Find those old poems or try your hand at some new ones, and come prepared to learn and enjoy.

I'm really looking forward to this workshop. I only have a very faint idea of what a "tanka" is, but I am eager to find out and to try my hand at it.

Anyway, please support it.
Amelia Fielden has agreed to help and she is one of the best English-language tanka poets, so it should be a worth-while experience.
Best,
David

Am I missing something? Today the event starts but what are the rules?
Send tanka where? How many? Must they be unpublished?

Mary, it's not set up as a contest. If you look waaaaay back on the DG board--2008, I think--you should be able to find the haiku workshop that was conducted by Stephen Collington and Lee Gurga. I'm anticipating a setup much like that: information about the form, examples, background, instruction, and an invitation to post your own and receive responses. No votes, no need to submit and be screened.

Maryann, there is no thread in DG yet. Has it been postponed?
