Good God,an English Secondary School teacher and still standing. I take my hat off to you sir.
Late starts mean fewer of the dire things one always gets from the young. You will know this, Welcome. If you don't like some advice then just smile sweetly and ignore it.
Start taking the Daily Telegraph, invaluable for crinkling in the faces of staff room bores. The Oldie is good if only for the teacher who writes therein. My daughter is a teacher of kids with Aspergers. They love her and they hit her. I hope your lot don't hit you.
Post a poem. Don't be shy.

Thanks Ann. I shall.
I don't see any poems. I see one comment.

They're on the Non-met board, John. Go ahead and look there; the Nonmet folks don't bite. Not often, anyway.

I assume, John, that this exemplifies the same broad and searching thought you applied to your Brexit decision.

People get exasperated with you at times (see above). I'm your friend, and even I do, sometimes. Sorry, mate.

Thank you John,
They don't hit me but they occasionally throw things (which rarely hit me).
I have indeed posted two poems. I hope if you do offer any advice it won't be the sort I'll be smiling sweetly at and ignoring, though my lurkings in non met might raise your hackles. I found some of your poems on the internet and they're biting and hilarious (God Squad and the one about Bliss magazine!) though how representative they are of your work I have no idea. You mentioned Holy Willie's Prayer! My Scottish dad's favourite along with Tam O'Shanter, from the only poet in existence as far as he's concerned. Apart from Robert Service.
Cheers!
