Today is, by tradition, his 450th birthday. (We know he was baptized 450 years ago this Saturday.) Two years from today will be the 400th anniversary of his death. He might have been able to find the words for the occasion. The rest of us can try.
I loved both poetry and drama before I ever read Shakespeare, but he made me love both more. He is my favorite writer, and I am not at all bothered that he is the favorite writer of many other people, too.
