It was a pleasure to receive my copy of The Hudson Review today and find two fine new poems by "our" Alicia. This issue seems to me to feature an exceptionally good selection of poetry, including new work by Thomas M. Disch, Michael McFee, and Wilmer Mills, among others.

Even so, Alicia's poems are standouts, as always. Many congratulations, Alicia!

Thanks for the kind words, Catherine. It is exciting to think the issue is out. Though I doubt I'll get one out here till around Christmas or so!

I picked up my copy this morning, and what a joy! Two wonderful poems by Alicia, an exquisite dark piece by OUR Alan Sullivan, and a splendid sequence by my buddy Wil Mills to his wife Kathryn. Kathryn and Wil met at the first West Chester conference. (and no Louis Simpson!!!yay!!!)

Lovely poems, Aliki. How would you characterize the meter of the dog's grave poem? I've edited the topic title to reflect the presence of our beloved EfH. We've been discussing off rhyme over at Mastery, and I commend Alan's "The Bosk" as a superlative contemporary example of how to write it.

I just wanted to add my warm if belated congratulations to Alan, whose terrific poem "The Bosk" I somehow hadn't yet seen when I posted about Alicia's Hudson debut. Overall, certainly one of the strongest selections of poetry THR has published in years.

And as Len noted in another thread, the letters column is also worth perusing! Albeit for somewhat different reasons.
