It's a while since I studied Rilke at university. You might start with Rilke: A Life by Wolfgang Leppmann, which seems to be quite thorough and should have a good bibliography. Reading Rilke: Reflections on the Problems of Translation, by William H. Gass, got very mixed reviews, and I think Stephen Mitchell's Ahead of All Parting, with German facing, is the way to go for an English-language version.
