Not railway station, Jerome, just station. Of course we can't say that here, being as there are two stations, but nobody says West train station.
Down at the station
Early in the morning
See the litle puffabillies
All in a row.
Man upon the engine
Blows a little whistle,
Chuff-chuff, toot-toot,
Off we go.
Poetry in motion.

I suppose you're not counting the bus station in St. George's Lane. I'd prefer to specify, myself.
Mind you, I would call Canterbury West a "railway" station rather than a "train" station - though that probably doesn't count as I still listen to the "wireless", despite that's having taken on a whole new meaning since the days of the cat's whisker and the crystal.
Face it, John, we grow old, we grow old...

Yes Ann. That's a bus station. And a tube station is a tube station. Old is good. We know what's what. And I challenge you to produce anyone who refers to Paddington train station. Or railway station. By the way, is there anywhere smaller than Canterbury that has TWO stations. Maidstone isn't smaller.
I used to live in Edinburgh. Which had two stations in those days. Now it has Waverley. And a bus station.

We always call railway stations 'railway stations' 'station' by itself can mean a ranch, ie a 'sheep station' although this terminology is changing. My local shopping centre is called 'Bondi Junction' Junction used to be where trams joined a new line, it's gone out of favour as trams were abolished in Sydney in the 1960's but junction has remained in a few places.
I've been watching "Justified' a cop show set in Kentucky, 'think' is pronounced 'thank' gotta love that. Gonna call it a 'thank tank' from now on.

Calling "Justified" a cop show is like calling "The Walking Dead"a medical drama. The final season is coming up here. I hope Elmore Leonard of Blessed Memory will be watching.

My comments referred to the UK only. Junction used to be a railway term (Dickens - Mugby Junction i.e. Rugby Junction - but now it is a confluence of horrible motorways.
Except for Clapham Junction of course.

Good Lord, I thought only American children sang "Down at the station."
At least I hope they do -- it was still around in my childhood, along with "I've been workin' on the railroad."
