I feel inclined to remind learned members that the subject of gender justice is far larger and more important than any of us individually (us and our tones), and moreover that no amount of discussion on this board is going to bring about social change.

It's great, however, that Paul is going to monitor the gender split of subs to his journals. That's an admirable development - may it pioneer many more such decisions by editors.

You know what, we seem to have lost sight of the topic.

Take conversation to PMs, please. I think most of the useful input and output on this subject has been said, and I would like to close it down at 27 pages. Way too long for anyone to read, and the more you talk, friends, the less likely anyone will swim this meandering river.

So. Can we quit now? Please. Unless someone has something really, really vital to the subject of Annie Finch, Women's Work: The Poetic Justice which is the topic and title of this thread.

C'est finis. Although I think some of the most interesting insights arose in the last day or so -- particularly Eva's detailed breakdown of a slough of recent anthologies.

It certainly has me thinking about the situation in a different way.

I firmly believe that things have gotten a lot better in recent years, and that the gender gap is now a crevice more than a chasm, but there is still work to be done...and I just hope that people choose to do that work with equanimity, rather than attempt to "turn the tables", as it were.

This has been a great thread, and one well worth having. Hopefully the topic arises again in the not-too-distant future.

P.S.: Janice -- 27 pages? The way *I* have my page display set, that means we have another 20 pages to go. Game on!
