It was a joke, Paddy. Conservatives make jokes.
Tricia I have followed a procedure and it may come up with a VOTE. I am agog.

I convinced my boss to vote! He wanted persuading, so I directed him to her page at the Poetry Foundation, which includes an impressive collection of Alicia's poems and essays:

John, I gather that this voting business is, like marriage, a two-part invention.
First, you register here by June 8.
Once The Powers That Be sniff you out (via the aforementioned registration process) to determine that you have the necessary credentials for enfranchisement, they instruct you on how to actually cast a ballot, either online or in person. That's Step Two, and it will only go on between May 22 and June 17.

John, Electoral Reform Services, who are administering the election, are on the ball. Registering and being verified took a few days but received my two-part security code to enter on the voting website this morning.

I received mine this morning as well and have cast my vote. It was remarkably easy for something organised by Oxford. It almost makes me wonder if there was some trap...

Yes, surprisingly straightforward.
I have voted (for Alicia, of course).

Stallings's Oxford Campaign in The TLS
A. E. Stallings has a write-up at The Times Literary Supplement, regarding her run for Oxford Professor of Poetry. If elected, Alicia will be the first woman ever to hold this position, since its founding in 1708. Of course, that is not why she ought to have it -- though the very thought moves me to the brink of tears. Please read here, and pass along to your Oxford acquaintances. There is a link to online voting at this page. Deadline is June 8th.

True, she may be a dark horse candidate -- but sometimes, dreams come true. Let us be their agents on Earth.
Many thanks,
Jennifer
