Michael, no particular reason. I just quit. I've done so a few times in my life, sometimes for a few years, sometimes for longer or shorter times. This may be for good. I think so. Time will tell.

Here's the EU arbitrarily decreeing in which jurisdiction a multi-national should pay tax, contrary to both the wishes and the laws of its member state.
Further proof, if any were needed, that the UK's decision to secede from the EU was correct.

The reason that Janice and most of this board hate Brexit is that it preserves age-old borders and thus keeps alive separate cultures, which is an insult to the "We are all the same and should blend together racially and culturally for a more peaceful world" communistic , one-government control that they commiserate with their comrades about. They unfortunately get encouragement from, for example, autocratic decrees by their ex and continuing recruiter of illegals, Obama, who, in his final months is confiscating without consultation, vast, and I mean vast, swaths of prime real estate needed by the citizenry to expand the economy. Snail-darter, 1, humans 0.

Skip, thanks for giving me a good laugh before I close down and go to bed. You made my day.

I don't think you realize how funny you are.)

David, I'll get back to you tomorrow.

David, I haven't forgotten you. Just did't want to reply in haste.

However I will not expand on this as this thread is meant to be about the role of taxes in state welfare (or the welfare state if one prefers).
