An early glimpse of Maryann reading and John Foy lurking in the audience at the Women's Timeline event last night at the Lincoln Center Fordham. This weekend will end up being too big for a city the size of New York.

I already need to say thank you to all you New Yorkers for treating me so well. A small difficulty: I'd do it on Facebook so as to speak to more people. but Facebook has decided to lock me out because I logged on from a place it doesn't think is right--namely, New York! It's also decided not to believe my answers to its security questions. Argh.
So let me thank you here, and say I'm psyched about seeing you again this afternoon and reading for you.
(Facebook friends, will you put this information on my wall so all and sundry can see it, or otherwise share it widely? If I can't clear this up in a day or two, I'll have to start from scratch with a new account and hope that you'll all help me out with friend suggestions and requests. Oy.)

Maryann has a velvet voice. She's one of the best readers I've heard, which has quite a bit to do with the quality of what she reads, too!!
May the wonderful time continue, Maryann!

Well, I'm back home now with functioning Facebook and reliable internet, so I can report that I had a phenomenally good time at both events. At Otto's we had a full house, and I've never heard so many excellent poems and performances at an open reading. I'm truly blown away. Thanks again to Mezzo Cammin and Carmine Street Metrics for having me.
And a special thank you again to Wendy Sloan for getting the two events coordinated to happen on the same weekend, and to Kate Benedict and her husband John Leahy for showing me around and helping me get where I needed to be.
