Is anyone aware of any use of "excipit" to mean "distract" or "divert"? OLD 5c has the definition of "absorb," but it is unclear as to whether that definition extends beyond a physical action to a mental state.
[I hopped over to the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae, too, but forgot it's fee-based. Is it worth $42 to you? Maybe not. You can probably access it in print or online somewhere close to you--as I live in a hinterland, I can't.]

Thanks, but I can go down to Harvard & use TLL there for free (well, not exactly free--I overpay for annual alumni privileges). Thanks for the lead, though.
