Bakeoff finalists 2012
BAKEOFF FINALISTS
I will start posting the bakeoff finalists tomorrow, on this thread, at the usual rate of 2 per day for 6 days. Comments by Distinguished Guest Tim Murphy will be added shortly. After all sonnets are entered and time allowed for your comments, there will be 3 days of voting to establish your favorites.
As is always the case, judging was a challenge and there were a number of sonnets that it was very hard to let go. Therefore, when the authors are revealed after the voting, I will also name two honorable mentions.
Stay tuned to this thread as we enter Sonnet Bakeoff 2012!

I'm having everything from eyetooth to eyetooth removed or crowned tomorrow, so I might be slow responding. And don't hold me to anything I say, for I shall be in La La Land.

After you come back from the dentist, Tim, you could compose a "crown" of sonnets about your experience.

Jayne, Martin, I've been getting ready by reciting The Charge of the Light Brigade.

Well, Tim, I've had everything from root canals to tooth implants done to me, and the good news is that none of it hurt. Just don't read Martin Amis before you go in. Good luck!

Gail,
Not read Amis? I think "Time's Arrow" is the perfect read when addled. Maybe the only way to read it.

The 12 finalists have now been posted. I will open a voting thread on Saturday, and will plan to reveal the voting results and names of authors on Tuesday, May 8th.
(And Rob, I was thinking of the way Martin Amis dwells on his endless dental procedures).

David, I've made my decision, and I'll wait for the popular vote to be posted. I shall post on Tuesday. I'm not voting first, second, and third. Merely first, and you'll see my reasons.
