Thank you so much for this, Andrew. I did spot one earlier reference to the connection - but, no, shamefully I also did not know anything like the full story. Worse still, this is just a few miles down the valley from my Scottish home and I will be specifically going to see and admire the bust when I next return - and start reading more Lermontov as well.
