Default Two painters using alcohol inks on YUPO

You all may be familiar with Wendy Videlock's poetry but have you seen her gorgeous alcohol ink paintings done on the synthetic paper known as "YUPO"? Take a gander at this: http://alcoholinks.blogspot.com/

And, to see how another artist is using alcohol inks on YUPO, here's a link to June Rollins work: http://junerollins.com/junerollins.com/Home.html

On the first link it had 'Two painters using alchohol' so I was expecting Jackson Pollock and a mate jumping into one of his drip paintings.
They look brighter than normal water colours, I thought some of her work lurid, but others look great.
all the best

I am deeply suspicious of a technique that claims to enable anyone to "be an artist" without "trying so hard". It has uncomfortable overtones of "painting by numbers".

Yupo "paper" is actually polypropylene, so I suppose that's why you need alcohol-based inks - so they they evaporate rather than dry, as, for instance, watercolour on cartridge.

That said, though, some of the singing colours appeal to my inner magpie. I am put in mind of secular stained glass.

Incidentally, even on the YUPO home page among the FAQ's, I have learned a lot about the process of manufacture and the wipe-clean properties of the stuff, but nowhere have I come across the actual components of the acronym. As a wordsmith, I want to know.

Ann:
Here's a link to a page where you'll find an explanation for the origin of the Yupo name and logo:

Thank you, Patricia! That's exactly the sort of input I was looking for.
