Hi,

Was thrilled to learn this week that i am one of the semi-finalists for the Glascow Prize for Emerging Poets...though so is our extremely accomplished AE Stallings, so I'm not holding my breath.

Also, I have new work in the current Poetry Northwest and Willow Springs. (sorry but can't figure out how the underlining works).

And Congratulations to all of you, esp R. Clawson with the Southern Review poems. I've been trying them forever also.

I tried to reply to their announcements but was unable to because when i hit reply the quick link screen popped out and wouldn't let me reply. If anyone reading this knows how to get around this please pm me. Thanks

Pat:
That's great news about the competition, and you're in great company with Alicia. Would that you both could win.
Congratulations, too, on being accepted by Poetry Northwest. It's a fine magazine and is edited by a fine poet, David Wagoner, a former teacher of mine who has consistently rejected my submissions. (I haven't submitted for a long time because Scribner's commissioned me to write an essay on him for their American Writers Series and he helped me by answering a number of questions; it seems awkward to send him poems while the ink's still wet on the essay.) His standards are very high -- there are but a handful of magazines that earn you such bragging rights.

Hi Pat,

I was delighted to see your name on the list. (And Diane Thiel's too!) Great to be in such good company. It sure would be nice if one of the Able Muse folks won...

Congrats on the publications too!

Alicia

"I have new work in the current Poetry Northwest"

That's not chopped liver, kiddo. Wagoner's turned me down twice.

"And Congratulations to all of you, esp R. Clawson with the Southern Review poems. I've been trying them forever also."

Thanks, and thanks to everybody who acknowledged this little coup. It was just one poem, albeit three pages.

Bob
