I remember reading bad reviews of Wallace Stevens's readings by people who'd attended them - and then being startled to hear him on a recording and discover a voice as elegant as the poetry - kind of like Ray Milland, to my ear.

Tim's voice seems perfectly suited to his poetry and I really enjoyed the podcast, as I've enjoyed hearing others read at Soundzine, the Chimaera, etc. I'll have to look up the Edgar recordings.

Dim bulb that I am, I can't help wonder when we'll have the first instance of "Audio Killed the Internet Star."

Thanks to the hundreds of page viewers and the four (!) of you who have commented. I have had some lovely comments by email, even requests for further recordings.

Because I want to keep the ball rolling, and because he is a spectacular reader with access to a sound studio, I've asked John Beaton for Podcast II. Hear his Spotlight Poet recordings, and check out our interview in the latest Able Muse. http://www.ablemuse.com/v8/index.html

And if you missed the YouTube he linked on Burns' Day, it is NOT to be missed! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1K4xmdukq8

Caveat, John's Address to the Haggis is in such Broad Scots, that the Hayes and I are probably the only Sphereans who can follow him, and that only because we have it memorized! So google the text, and have it at hand. I'm sure his Standard English podcast will be a little more comprehensible.

Tim

I finally managed to link up with your "hunting" reading. Terriffic stuff. You're a gifted reader--not to mention poet. Isn't it ironic that it's taken the fruits of four hundred years of scientific progress and techno wizadry to finally bring us to where the cave man always was: sitting around the fire, telling tales. I'm excited. I'm teaching myself to record myself and podcast.

Tim,

I really, really enjoyed this podcast! I think this format is a great idea--I felt much closer to the poems, and to you, the poet, as you read them, this way, than simply reading them in print. As someone already mentioned, you are a gifted reader--you enunciate very clearly, and put emphasis on phrases in such a way as to guide readers along. Very enjoyable!

And thanks, Alex, for working out the technology on this! Looking forward to more podcasts!

Jeff

Tim,

Yes, greatly enjoyed.

A great new venture. I hope there'll be lots more, Alex.

Gregory
