Just a few of Dylan's lyrics can stand on their own. Not enough -- in my revised opinion -- to earn a Nobel.
A more worthy poet lyricist would be Leonard Cohen. His rhyme and meter are distinctive and subject matter darkly elegant. As a poet and thinker, too, Cohen is far more worthy.
As for Dylan's "old man" voice, I think it never was a great voice by any measure. I think a more listenable bad voice turned to "old bad" voice is Tom Waits. (Another troubadour that in my mind surpasses Dylan's body of work). But Leonard Cohen gets the prize for voice, too. The deepness and darkness of it is unparalleled.
