Dear Mom,
I read that poem you said I had to. I didn't get but some of it. He clearly doesn't really know what being wasted is. We have the best parties here. The part that meant the biggliest was this:
Jug jug jug jug jug jug
So rudely forc’d
I love that. But fork is spelled wrongly. That guy isn't so smart like me.
Can I have my allowance now?
Love,
the donald

Hi Roger,
It's not that I'm not impressed. It's that twenty-year-olds write like that more often than forty-year-olds in my experience. Big ideas get moved around and do a lot of work quickly.
Cheers,
John

I thought that the rude forcing of unsuspecting jugs was one of his cheaper thrills.

Obama at twenty was much like Obama later on. Opinionated and fashionable and mostly wrong.

I think jug may have become a pun since Eliot wrote. It's not a pun for the OED, which lists it as the sound of the nightingale, appropriately. It is the only sound Philomela can make, thanks to Tereus.
Eliot's cheap line to me is "other testimony of summer nights".
Oh - Anne, I'd thought you were talking about Eliot. My bad. Rereading, I think you are talking about Trump, in which case I entirely agree, and we have evidence. Though I suspect his entire existence is built around cheap thrills, he makes little distinction.

John, it's a good thing you're not opinionated.

Other-John, (I), it's not your bad at all.
I was indeed making a rude reference to the graceless jug-jiggling of DT, but your failure to credit me immediately with a comment of such crudity says much for my image as a gentlewoman. My bad, sir, not yours; I owe you thanks.

Opinionated, unfashionable and mostly right, Roger. And you?
I'm glad Obama is not our Prime Minister. He does not like the English.
