Conceding humiliating defeat
In the brutally competitive world of Aldhelm scholarship, I have been outdone again:

Kate is already in the classic mould of Beeb presenters, except for the fact that what she says is true and useful. Thank you for letting me see that. Michael.

Great video. Now that I have been baptized by Kate in the ways of Aldhelm, I'm eager to know more.

Well, since you asked, Andrew, the book has been available from the University of Toronto Press at http://www.utppublishing.com/Saint-A...s-Riddles.html for more than two weeks, but the printing hasn't kept up with the preorders, so Amazon won't ship for the first time any earlier than next Saturday.
Apologies to those of you who order through Amazon.

"And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids."
Ah, well. If you liked the movie, you'll love the book, I'm thinking. I'll be ordering a copy, at any rate. Congratulations.
Best,
Ed

It's the way of the current world: video upstages words on a page. And doesn't it seem that the video presenters are getting younger all the time? We older readers and writers are getting ousted by the talkers and video recorders. It would be nice to think that the videos create an interest that will lead people back to the page, but I doubt that that is true, unless you mean the Wikipedia page.

Having seen this, I now know that I would give my left eye to live in Malmesbury.
Wonder if the school needs a (retired American) history teacher?
