ISIS, Daesh ... and Nige
Here's an article that explains why world leaders are increasingly using the term "Daesh" instead of ISIS.
Here are a couple of extracts:
The reason more and more world leaders are climbing on the Daesh wagon, however, may simply be because the Islamic State doesn't like it ... The word Daesh is now forbidden within the territory controlled by the Islamic State: If you say it, you run the risk of having your tongue cut ...
Daesh. Use it — annoy a terrorist.
And here's an article about our own dear Nige, proving once more that he's the closest thing we have to Donald Trump.

I imagine that Obama's critics still prefer initials beginning with "I" since their frequent complaint against Obama is that he doesn't mention often enough that the terrorists are Islamic.
I don't like "Daesh" though. It has the crisp sound of a product named by an advertising focus group, too much like a car model or a laundry detergent.

Bob, I agree with you. But if they don't like it, then I do.

Some "minister" was complaining the other day that the President says "ISIL" instead of "ISIS." I had to point out the official U.S. term.

With full apologies to Oscar.

Judging by ISIS's English-language publications, they barely consider the "Daesh" thing an annoyance. I suppose you can't say "snarky" without "narc," but this thread is just dumb.

As finely-reasoned an argument as usual, Quincy.
