A. E. Stallings wins the Barnstone
I got my loser note yesterday telling me that Alicia's "The Anglo-Saxom Riming Poem" was selected by WB himself as the winning entry for the Eighth Annual Willis Barnstone Translation Prize.
Congratulations Alicia!

Hooray for Alicia (and for Old English!)
I've just updated the Wikipedia page for the Willis Barnstone translation prize with this new data

Congratulations, Alicia! Anglo-Saxon seems to be making quite a showing recently.

Way to go, Alicia! And sight unseen, I have a feeling it was definitely the right choice.
My form letter from the other WB, William Baer, says that an unidentified one of my translations (I think I subbed four) was in the top thirty, where I presume that many people here kept me company.

Congrats, Bob -- I just got a straight up loser note, no top anything, so good on you.

Congratulations to Alicia on the win,
and congratulations to Bob for making the top thirty!
Does anyone know how many submissions the contest got? I wouldn't mind trying my luck at that contest some year, but I'd like to know how much competition there is.
