Default Stateside

I'm pleased to announce the arrival of my third poetry collection, Stateside, from Northwestern University Press. The book is already on backorder (!) at amazon. But, you can find it in stock at www.barnesandnoble.com and at many fine bookstores near you.

I'll be participating in an off-site reading at AWP in Denver:
Date & Time: Thursday, April 8 @ 7pm
Northwestern University Press / &NOW Books / Artifice Magazine Reading
Location: The Celtic Tavern, 1801 Blake St, Denver, CO 80202
Cost: None
Website:http://www.artificemag.com/events
Join Northwestern University Press, &Now Books, and Artifice Magazine for an evening of readings. Three imprints at different ages showcase authors writing at the frontier of contemporary literature.

Stateside examines my experience as a "milspouse." Poet Sam Hamill has said of the book, “In Jehanne Dubrow’s Stateside, the formalities of structure—rhyme and meter—play against the formalities imposed upon the life of a military wife. There are poems in marching meters and poems that provide counterpoint to those rhythms, but most of all, hers is a fully experienced suite, fully composed in every sense of that word, both intimate and public, an accomplished book. She is a contemporary Penelope whose tale is epic.”

I have been looking forward to reading this book, Jehanne. I very much enjoyed your book The Hardship Post.

Congrats, Jehanne!

If I can't go (I think there's a reading by David Yezzi at the same time, but if not, I'll be there--it's wonderful how many of my friends have readings this year), I hope to be able to see another 'Spheran at AWP--come by the UNO Press table!

Best,
Michael

Jehanne, I am hoping to get to this in time to hear you--I am participating in the Prairie Schooner "Baby Boomer" offsite reading that runs from 5:30 to 7:00 that same evening (along with Annie Finch and a dozen or so others--Common Grounds Coffee House, 1550 17th Street). Do you know if you are reading first, second, or third on the program? At any rate, congratulations--you know how wowed I was by those poems when I first heard some of them read on our Mezzo Cammin panel at West Chester. I predict great things for that book!
