Default Wilbur Award

My dear Eratopals,
I knew about this since March, but I thought I might jinx it if I told anyone. Anyway, it's starting to look like a reality, so I thought I'd come out and tell you: I won the 2010 Richard Wilbur Award (runner-up to Susan McLean who was the 2009 winner). The book should be coming out around Christmas time, if all goes well. (knock wood) Anyway, I have to thank all you critters for your help and support, without which I honestly don't think I could have done it.
Marion

Hello Marion,

Wonderful news! Wild congratulations to you!

Congratulations too, Susan, for almost being the first to pull off the repeat feat.

Cheers,
...Alex

Dear Marion

I don't know that I'm so in awe of Richard Wilbur as some around these parts, however this is no doubt a high honour and I, for one, am very pleased for you.

Well done, especially for "holding your water" (as we say here) since March.

Best wishes

Philip

WOOHOO!! HUZZAH!! Rewards at last for long and faithful efforts! YEEHAW!
I don't think I know any more cheers than those, so I'll just keep repeating them.

Congratulations, Marion! Wonderful news.

Would you remind us who the judge was? Just curious.

Wow! Fantastic news, Marion and Susan - great to hear.
And to think that you owe it all to the wonderful Eratosphere.

This needs not just a chocolate hat, but a chocolate tent. I'm working on it.

Congeratolations!!!

Holy crap! This is almost as good as winning the Oldie tea set and bagging the Spectator fiver on the same day! Way to go! I'm so happy for you, and for me who gets to look forward to reading it.

Any word I try to come up with seems way too slight. I am really happy for you. And impressed that you could keep mum so long!

Let us know the details when the day rolls round--title, how to order etc.

Much deserved.

Wonderful news, Marion, and well deserved! I just wanted to clarify that I did not enter the contest twice (to the best of my knowledge, you can win it only once). The competition is held every other year and two winners are chosen, one for each year, but the news of the second winner is held back a year. The judge was Samuel Maio. I have eagerly awaited word of who the other winner was, and I am so glad to hear that the prize went to another Eratospherean. I look forward to buying the book. Be sure to let us know when it becomes available. Mine was out in early December of last year.

Susan
