Pushcart Noms from the Barefoot Muse
Include (names I know from the Sphere - apologies if I left anyone out):
"Guns 'N Roses" by Austin MacRae, and "Hands" by Marybeth Rua Larsen, from Issue #10 of The Barefoot Muse, Spring 2010;
"Sonnenizio Sessantina" by Maryann Corbett, and "Reproof" by Frank Osen, from Issue #11, Fall 2010.
Congratulations and good luck to Amacrae, Marybeth, and Maryann - and thanks to editor Anna Evans.
Frank

Kudos, Frank, for your nomination, and thanks for the shout-out.
Thanks also to assistant editor Nick Friedman, another at least occasional Spherean.

Congratulations to the nominees! The Pushcart seems to be a long shot for formalists, but you never know when the tide will start to turn. Getting the work seen by the judges is the necessary first step.

Susan,
There are judges? I have no idea how the process works! This one, best of the net, best of the web... can you give us some idea of how things are done? It's all a complete mystery to me...
Thanks,
Bill

Bill, to answer your question, here's what can be found by searching. I'll add stuff as I find it:
Sundress Publications and its "Best of the Net" anthology
The Pushcart nomination process
Dzanc Books and Best of the Web
None of these say much about the process after nomination. I've assumed--on no good basis--that in each case a group of editors makes selections from the pile. If there's further inside info, I'm curious too.
And---with all the usual caveats about comparisons being odious-- here's a column about which magazines have been winning Pushcarts over the past years. There are five-year and ten-year lists.
