Cyn,

More good stuff. The colors are to die for. I wonder what we'd notice if we could compare it side by side with the exact same view rendered 36x24. I suspect I'd like this better, but something makes me want the view to be wider. I think, though, that that is what gives energy to the piece to complement the serenity of the setting, if that makes sense.

yes it makes sense because it is well known by painters and other artists that using an aspect that is taller than wide adds energy and drama while a horizontal view is calming, The ground choice is as important as the image when it comes to art, IMO.

I had this drawn out in the horizontal aspect as well but definitely preferred this. This is an incredible cirque (a hard won hike) and I wanted the mountains to feel close up and very tall. They felt more distant in the horizontal sketch - but yes more tranquil
