Had been contemplating a switch in magazine subs for some weeks, and recently ordered a sample copy of Anon 1. The overall standard and variety (formal and thematic) of the contents seemed well above average for UK little mags and I do intend to subscribe.

It was good to see from an enclosed flier that the tradition of Spherean representation will be maintained in Anon 3, as the names of Rose Kelleher and Oliver Murray featured in a short advance list of contributors.

Congratulations to you both!

Margaret.

Haven't seen the issue yet, but advance congratulations to Rose and Oliver.

I agree with you, Margaret, on the quality of the work in this relatively new journal. Mike Stocks is one of those rare characters: percipient editor and extraordinary poet as well.

One of my translations from Heinrich Heine will be in an upcoming issue of Anon, probably Anon 3, as well.

Hearty congratulations, Rose and Oliver, and Terese, too. I love the idea of anonymous submissions, and have heard only good things about Anon. I've been meaning to order a sample copy, myself. Thanks for the notice, Margaret,

wendy

Thanks, Margaret. I'm delighted to have something of mine appear alongside the work of Oliver and Terese. And Anon is a subscription I don't intend to let lapse--not just because I like the content (I do), but to show support for their anonymous submissions process, which has always seemed to me a very sensible approach (yes, even before they accepted my work, lol).

Have recently received issue 2 which - as Rose indicates - maintains the high overall standard of its predecessor. It's good that some established poets like V.Carlin have submitted their work through the usual channels. One would however suspect that the authorship of Mario Petruzzi's Chernobyl poem may have been guessed by the assessors, as he's recently published a widely reviewed book on that theme!!

Can't recall whether the fine poem by Greg de Prinzio appeared in this number or the first, but - wherever -I did enjoy it. The second illustrated batch of Robert Schlechter's children's stories was also delightful.

Can understand why current prose space is being taken up with discussions of the underlying magazine concept, but DO hope future invited articles will be more outward-looking and tackle themes of interest to readers and writers (beginning and experienced) of contemporary poetry.

Margaret.
