Some recent items:

sonnet in the Bill Baer-edited
150-sonnet anthology just out;

sonnet in William Thompson's
bout-rimes (sorry for the lack
of diacriticals) anthology of Shakespeare's
Sonnet #20 (U. Wisconsin-Milwaukee);
this contains a number of Sphereans,
including two sonnets by Rhina, and one
each by Mike Juster, Deborah Warren, Dave
Mason, Alicia, Don Kimball, and some
others I probably missed (apologies);

review of the latest translation
of "The Georgics" in "PN Review";
latest word is that Virgil's poem is not
a sonnet;

poem in "Margie" (no prizes for guessing--
it's a sonnet);

reading at the Boston Public Library
National Poetry Month Festival, April 2;
will undoubtedly read at least one non-sonnet;

readings (with the inimitable Rhina)
at Keuka College and Wells College
in NY the fourth week in April; a number
of...uh...sonnets have been scheduled
for these two programs.

Congratulations on all this great news!

Also, couldn't resist:

The Georgics

1.
What makes crops glad—when should you sow?
This planting—have you got the knack?
Buy a gallon of Miracle-Grow;
Consult the Farmer’s Almanac.

2.
I’ve sung the tillage of the soil—
From seed to harvest, all that junk.
Viniculture too is toil—
But at least it gets you drunk.

3.
Now husbanding livestock with care:
Love conquers all—the ewes and rams,
The war-like stallion and the mare—
Or where would we get foals and lambs?

4.
Orpheus, I’ve lost my bees.
How can I get my hive back, please?

Oh, please, please, Alicia--tell me you DIDN'T
just dash these off this morning as mere improvs
or bagatelles. Please?

I'd prefer to think pieces this witty
took you at least a few hours.

Anyway, much thanks.

P.S.--Just discovered Janet Lembke
also has a brand new "Georgics" out.
And did you notice in "Poetry" 's
Contributors' Notes that someone
mentions Virgil's "EcOlogues"?

Len:
You're a one-man poetry revival! It's great to see you get so much recognition. I'm looking forward to seeing your latest.

Congratulations, Len!

Your link with PN Review seems strong, what with your own translations and your recent review. (I am a long-time subscriber to PNR.)

A fuller note about Bill Thompson’s collection of sonnets is here: http://www.ablemuse.com/erato/ubbhtm...ML/000613.html .

Kind regards…

Clive
