Our own Leila Montour has been accepted to participate in the God Loves Beauty Art festival. Unfortunately she won't be there. Why? Because she's going to be in Rochester reading her poetry. You're on a roll, Leila! Way to go, girl.

thanks, I'm scared to death (not over the art thing, but the reading at RIT on the 15th)

I've never read in public... I'll start a topic on it in general I think

Leila,

Congratulations and all good wishes! Pundits used to say 'read twice as slowly and twice as loudly as you think you need to' but I guess the 'loudly' bit assumes a mike-free environment. Also a uniformly slow rate of delivery can be deadly. I think it's more a matter of leaving longer than usual pauses at the punctuation marks (I find it helps to mark up texts beforehand for pauses and emphasis).

Best,

Margaret.

thanks for the well-wishing, everyone.

The prints of my digital stuff is in LA now, and should be at the festival. No idea what sort of scope the showing and festival will be, or the size. If anyone goes, I'd like to hear about it!

Anyone in the Rochester area can show up to either poetry reading, it's grown to two Universities now, both evidently hosted by the Muslim Student Association, Womens Studies/Centers, and English Depts.

GEtting nervous, and not as practised as I should be
I may just wing it and see what happens.

Here are the two readings:

Friday, April 15th @ Rochester Institute of Technology
Muslim Women in Modern American Poetry
6:00PM in the Xerox Auditorium (building 9) on RIT campus.

Saturday, April 16th @ U of Rochester:
The Gamble Room in Rush Rhees library at 1:00 pm
