Jodie is the Masthead Poet, the Cover Boy, for Hudson Review's New Writers Issue, garnering more ink than any new poet I've ever seen there. Here are four big, brawny poems: Jardin des Plantes, The Origin of the Specious, Ledger, and To Sophistication. Ranging from free verse to pentameter, the poems are very hip and yet litaneutic in an ancient way, just a smashing debut. Jodie, you join Sphereans Mason and Murphy in being discovered by HR, and I know Dave will join me in saying I'm proud to call you brother. (And unlike me, he probably voted on your submission!) The issue arrived today, and I hope HR will shortly post the poems at www.hudsonreview.com.

Though I can't claim credit for everything in the issue, I did indeed vote on this one!

Congratulations, Jodie! Cool full name...
Also, I note recent Colorado College graduate Heidi Overbeck also made the issue. Dave, I think the recent success rate of your students speaks to your amazing abilities as a teacher.

Jody,
and your name is so beautiful.
The first poem is frightening and beautiful and the second entirely engrossing and delightful.
The "luck" was earned.

Sorry for the haste, but thanks for the encouragement, all of you; to Tim, thanks for the lead; and to David, thanks for the vote of confidence. It's an honor.
